In my understanding, the proverb “Resolutely defending the main battlefield” is equivalent to an old saying “Never drop singing or fighting practice for a single day”. Without such persistence and long-term accumulation, there will be no perfect performance one day in the future. Art is supposed to be 100% perfect. Any works of art should reflect the changes of times and the appeals of the masses and also convey positive hopes, strength and expectations. Each persistent art worker has his/her own style and pursuit. What deserves to be considered is how to better follow the traditions and show off style.
“Two lines took me 3 years to finish, and I couldn’t help crying when I chant them.” The lines are from a poem by the poet Jia Dao who was always praised for his academic diligence. However, according to my understanding, the lines suggest two meanings: first, fine works of art require repeated polish and perfection; second, the lines prove the poet’s persistence and enthusiasm for art.
Artistic creation is a laborious process, requiring careful consideration and ceaseless perfection. Some works of art, even a stroke or radical in them, are altered more than once in order to achieve perfection. I would be comforted if my creations could strike a chord in my audience. I’m looking forward to sharing my art with them.
